February Book Club

LCARSP Readers, the next book our book club is reading is "The Last Days of Night" by Graham Moore. This is a novel of historical fiction published in 2016. The story follows a young lawyer in New York City in 1888, as he attempts to discern who invented the light bulb: Thomas Edison, George Westinghouse, or Nikola Tesla.

If you would like to borrow a book, check one out at the First Christian Church (we are in the second door from the window). Discussion will be Feb. 27 at Halo and Wings.

LCARSP Hosts 2019 Region 13 Annual Meeting

LCARSP hosted the Annual Region 13 Meeting today, October 22, at the First Christian Church of Troy. The theme was "Let the Journey Continue" This opportunity brought our local MRTA Units together for information sharing, fellowship and a delicious meal!
MRTA information was presented by Executive Director Jim Kreider,

MRTA President Fred Price,

Forrest T. Jones Representative Tom Wales,

State Region 13 Vice President Sherry Brandes,
State Committee Chairs and Region 13 Unit Presidents,

including our own Unit President, Jan Burlison.

James Bertels, Troy R-III teacher, presented a wonderful program about his Journey of Music.

Backroads Pizza and Grill catered the luncheon of several varieties of lasagna, salads and fruit.

For fun, the Troy Unit set up a PHOTO booth, provided "travel give-aways, and let attendees choose books for attendance prizes.

The Troy Unit also sponsored a raffle for gift baskets raising funds for the Missouri Retired Teacher Foundation (MRTF) classroom grants. These baskets raised almost $500, the cost of one MRTF grant!
