May 2016 Meeting Notes

Meeting notes:
May 12, 2016

Please note the change in schedule...The caper planned for Tomorrow, Friday, May 13, will be postponed because of their School Auction. The rescheduled date is June 24, 2016.

AND, the Open House for June 8th, was amended to be a proclamation and will be disseminated by newspaper and social media. We will have our regularly scheduled luncheon in September for new retirees.

Today, Mercy Lincoln presented their Telestroke program. This is a relatively new program (February) that provides stroke victims with rapid evaluation through the local hospital connecting them with specialists in the field of strokes.
We also received information about volunteer opportunities at Mercy Lincoln.

Jane A. reports 75 paid members. Our goal is 83.
We had items for sale that benefit the scholarship fund. The craft group hopes to make items to sell every month. (Christmas gifts?)
Don't forget your recipes for the cookbook fundraiser. If you have recipes that you would like to donate, please send them to me and I will forward them, or send them to Debbie if you have her email.

Committee reports:
Community service: April - 445 hours, $201 donations and $115 for Buddy bags

Barb A. shared that the Rotary will have an electronics and appliance recycling day this Saturday in the parking lot of Cannon Realty.

There are 22 Lincoln County retirees this year. 14-Troy, 5-Winfield, 3-Elsberry, 0-Silex.

Capers: Note the above rescheduled dates...
Branson Fun Days will be in October 10 - 18 this year. MRTA day is October 14. Mark your calendar if you are interested in going.
October we have a trip to Booneville to see the Clydesdales. If you are interested, we will have a sign up next month's meeting so we can get a date and schedule a tour.

Clubs: Craft club will meet 10:00 a.m. May 31, 2016 at Debbie's house. We will be making microwave bowls. (Great little Christmas gift) You do NOT have to be a seamstress to attend! Please let me know if you are interested. Lunch provided.
Book Club will meet from 1:00 - 3:00 in the back room of Halo and Wings on May 26, 2016. The book is Guilty by David Baldacci. Snacks will be provided.

Oats November trip will be to Steelville. The Meramac Music Theater. Cost $80. December trip is to Branson 12/5 - 8. Cost $410. For more information contact me or Mary M.

Next meeting will be at the Health Department on June 9th, 10:00. We will be donating to the Winfield Food Pantry. Bring a friend!!
