Upcoming Events - Get Involved!

Upcoming events:

Book Club - February 25, at Becky house. 1 - 3 p.m. We're reading Home Front by Kristen Hannah.  If you would like to join us, check your email from Diana for directions to Becky's house or give her a call.

Craft Club - March 1, at Debby Suchland's house. Let Debby or me know if you can attend.

Next meeting - March 10 at the Health Department, 10 a.m. Hope to see you there!

Also...LCCOA has a couple classes that might interest some in the group.
       - An android class will be February 25th at 1:30 p.m. I've been told the Apple one was very good.

        - A balance class is available for those over 60. It meets Tuesdays and             Fridays 1 - 3 p.m. There was a class going on today, so I'm unsure of when a new one will begin. I have been told this, too, is a very good class to take.

If you are interested in either one of these classes please call (636) 528-7000 for registration.

Successful Legislative Day and Craft Club Update

Legislative Day was a success with over 1000 school personnel attending!!! We didn't get to meet with Rep. Pietzman or Senator Riddle, but a few of us did get an invite from Senator Riddle's secretary and intern to go onto the Senate floor during their absence. (The senate had a late night/early morning working on legislation) It was quite exciting and we even got our picture taken with Senator Parsons from Bolivar!

Update on craft club:
If you cannot attend and want to provide material, please let us know. We can buy the fabric for you or you can drop it off by Halo and Wings before March 1.

Date: March 1, 2016
Time: 10:00 a.m.
Place: Debby Suchland's house

Project: Flannel baby blankets
Materials:
Two complimentary pieces of flannel.
1- 1 yd cut
1 - 1 1/2 yd cut

If you want to sew, bring your machine and sewing supplies

We need people to sew, press, and cut. (These are not the tied polar fleece blankets we've made at the meeting, but are still simple to construct.)
Lunch will be provided. IF you can attend, PLEASE contact Debby or me by the 26th. We want to be sure we have plenty of food.

February Update - Mark Your Calendars!

Thank you, Kathy, for taking care of things during my "vacation" to Texas. We enjoyed the warm weather and...you get the idea. But now it's February and things are brewing for Lincoln County Area Retired School Personnel.

First we have a 2016 planning meeting at Krumbly Burger at 10:30 a.m. on February 11.  If you plan on joining us, please park on the north side of the building to keep the main lot open for lunch traffic. (Thank you!) Be thinking of what you want to see in the way of programs and capers for the coming year. We had a pretty good brainstorming session at the last meeting, but maybe you've thought of something since then. If you are unable to join us, be sure to share you thoughts and ideas with someone who is coming to the meeting. Kathy, Jane, Maudean, and I are always happy for your input.

Next, Legislative Day is February 17. Please mark that day on your calendar and plan to join us. We will go by bus again to Jefferson City where we meet with the big group, then divide up and call on our regional legislators, then eat a delicious chicken dinner provided by MRTA for all attendees (us), members of the House, Senate, and staff. We will return by bus, usually by the middle of the afternoon. It's a fast paced day, but well worth it! I'd really like to fill our own bus, or at least make it necessary to have two buses from our region. Let me know soon if you are planning on going...
Jim's emails have started, so the session is heating up.

There are some 5,000 last years members who have not paid their dues for this year. If you are one, don't forget to get it in the mail soon. Also, Jane Allen is accepting the $5 for local dues. We all pay insurance. This is the cheapest insurance that I know of.

Let me, or one of the other officers know if you have any questions.

Thanks! dg
